Machiavelli Chocolatier New York

I joined Enjoy Philippines' Fun Flick Fest contest on a whim. I didn't really send a video entry but I "Liked" several entries. Liking or voting for entries gives you the chance to win P500 worth of Gift Certificates. So it was really a pleasant surprise when I won along with two other contestants. Last week the GC was delivered at my doorstep and instead of the P500 denomination it was P600 and was for Machiavelli Chocolatier New York. I had it picked up at Rustans Makati, Essenses Area in Glorietta 4 and again was surprised when I saw my prize. It was a small box with less than 20 pcs. of dark chocolate inside. When I took a bite I instantly realized why it was so expensive. It was so delicious and the flavor is rich. The chocolate just melts in your mouth. If you want to know more about Machiavelli Chocolatier New York, just visit their website at http://www.mach-chocolatier.com and browse through the many chocolates they have and know their other branches.

Go LA Lakers!

I'm not a big basketball fan but I do watch the NBA once in a while especially the finals. This morning my friend constantly prodded me to watch eventhough he doesn't need to do that since I had every intention of watching. I'm glad I did because Game 7 of the championship game between Boston Celtics and LA Lakers was a real classic (the Lakers won 83-79). It was an exciting come from behind victory for the Lakers, who won their 16th NBA title. Although I didn't know the names of most of the players from both teams, I was still glued to the TV for most of the game. I rooted for Lakers and the ones I like are Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol. I also think that Sasha Vujacic is hot. Congratulations to LA Lakers and all their fans! Hope they win again next year.

My Sun Cellular Easy Broadband SIM Plan

I recently changed my Sun Broadband Wireless Plan 350 Lite to Easy Broadband SIM Only (because I already have the USB modem). I realized that the free 45 hours that Plan 350 Lite offers is just not enough since I'm infront of my lappy almost all day. It usually lasts only 12 days for me. For the rest of the days remaining I buy the P50 unlimited internet (good for one day) and when you compute that it's just too much especially for someone like me whose on a budget. With the Easy Broadband I'm able to enjoy up to 2 Mbps speed of unlimited internet for only P799 a month. Plus there's no holding period so if ever you get dissatisfied with their service you can always look for a better broadband deal. What I like the most though is how easy it is to apply for this broadband plan. You don't have to present any documents, simply show a valid ID and fill out the application form. I have a huge issue when it comes to how fast the processing period is because I waited almost three months only having to find out in the end that my application was rejected when I applied for a PLDT MyDSL (but that's another story). So far I have no complaints because the connection is quite fast and I haven't experienced any disconnection. I hope that this relationship with Sun Cellular lasts a long time and never again will I have any problems with my internet plan.

A Day with the Prince of Persia

I didn't have any plans of watching the movie Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time in a theater until a friend gushed about it and convinced me to see it. I'm not a big Jake Gyllenhaal fan but I must say that the movie is something else. It was raining so hard last Sunday morning so I thought that we would just stay home and scrap the whole movie thing but then again the desire to see the movie was greater than anything. My family and I arrived at SM Sucat quite early so we still had time to visit some of the stores in the mall. The movie started at 11:20 and I was relieved that there weren't too many people in the theater which was fine with me since I don't like jampacked movie houses. Probably it was because of the rains and it was already the second week of showing. Anyhow, I decided to relax and just enjoy myself. And that I did. The movie was very entertaining and you wouldn't notice the almost two hours of runtime. The story is simple but the fast-paced and exciting action scenes from start to finish more than made up for it. The cast did a great job and Jake Gyllenhaal as Prince Dastan and Gemma Arterton (the love interest of Sam Worthington in Clash of the Titans) as Princess Tamina are eye-candy. Since this is a fantasy-adventure movie you'd expect that the hero will triumph against all adversity and evil and will come off unscathed. I was really amazed at how lucky and good Prince Dastan was. This movie still didn't make me a Jake Gyllenhaal fan but it made me a fan of the movie itself. I would definitely watch the sequel. I'm so sure there will be one.

What I'll Do If I Win $100

I've been wanting to buy a netbook for the longest time since my reliable but old laptop is just about ready to give up on me (been using it for the past 3 years). But due to budget constraints, I keep postponing. But constantly seeing people in coffee shops with their sleek and trendy netbooks and being reminded that I really do need a new lappy just sealed the deal for me. So last Sunday I bought an Asus eeePC 1005HA Slimnote netbook. But enough with the rambling and on with the question in mind "What will you do if you will win $100?". I will definitely use it to pay for the first two months of my credit card which I used to pay for the netbook (on 12 months installment). It will definitely help a lot.

Since I'm so happy with my purchase, I would gladly share some pictures of my new baby in this post.

By the way, this is my official entry in Noel & Levy's Thanksgiving Contest. If you also want to join and win great prizes please checkout my previous blog entry.

Winning in Alooph

I'm such an online contest junkie that I join in almost all the contests and promos that I stumble upon on the internet. There are actually sites where you can check out all the contests both on the internet and out of it. I saw the contest in Alooph fan page in Facebook last April which I immediately joined in because the mechanics were easy and the prizes were in cold cash. For those of you who haven't heard of Alooph, it's the Philippines' first location-based social networking site. This is where you can see all the different restos, shopping malls, cafes etc. around Metro Manila and other provinces. Their contest was entitled "Beat the Heat" and all you have to do is go to their website (which is aloo.ph) tell the best way to "Beat the Heat" by dropping a breadcrumb at your favorite spot at aloo.ph. I had so many entries that I think almost half of the contest entries were mine. The more entries the more chances of winning, right? True enough I won. It was only third place but it's okay since all my effort was rewarded. It really made my day. My winning entry was "Get to see beautiful works of art and chill out at the same time at the Ayala Museum. @ Ayala Museum". If you want to be a winner like me just be a fan of Alooph in Facebook and stay tuned for their next contest.

Charice in Glee

I read somewhere just this morning that Filipina singing sensation Charice will indeed be in the cast of the hit show Glee in its next season. This is big news since this will be the first time, as far as I know, that a Pinoy will be in a US TV show. Not just any other show but one that is so huge right now. You're probably living in a cave if you don't know Glee or at least have heard of it. Being a music lover, I too have caught the Glee bug and never miss an episode. I love all the singing and dancing and all the fun production numbers. The cast are all likeable and very talented. Heck I even like Sue Sylvester. The fact that every type of teenager is represented or will be able to relate to at least one character is a big plus for the show. And it's not just for the young ones but for people of all ages. If you love music, for sure you'll love Glee.

Going back to Charice, this is really something to look forward to. Her talent will surely be appreciated and this will again bring pride to our country. Let's just stay tuned for the next season which will probably start in September.
