Finding Local Contracting Businesses that are Available Today

As a homeowner, you may only have a brief window of opportunity to make much-needed renovations to your house. When you have freed up time in your calendar to take on remodeling projects, you want to find a local contractor who likewise has the same availability as yours. Rather than spend precious time calling around and trying to find contractors who can take on projects like window tinting for homes or redoing your windows entirely, you can use the Internet to find a business quickly. Using the website, you can tailor your search to your neighborhood and even vet bids without having to leave your home.

You may wonder why you should tint your windows in your home in the first place. Tinting brings with it numerous benefits that can make your house more enjoyable in which to live. For example, if you are always fighting to keep your utility bills down, you can lower them without having to adjust your thermostat by tinting your windows. The darkening will deflect the sun and keep the inside of your house cooler in the summertime. Likewise, during the wintertime when the sun's glare can be intense, you can keep your house darkened to a comfortable point by putting this coloring on your windows.

Your windows may also be a costly investment that you want to protect at all costs. When you fear that the intense light and heat from the sun will crack your windows, you can keep the glass cooler by tinting it. This coloring will protect the glass from damage. When the glass is safe from shattering or splintering, you also avoid the worry that you or your loved ones will be hurt by flying shards of windows.

Finally, tinted windows in a home can add a decorative appeal to your house. When you want to give your home a more decorative look, you may consider this remodeling project. Because it can take time to get the work done to your satisfaction, you can begin to shorten the process by using the Internet to find contractors and to vet bids for the work. You can find local businesses that have the same availability as you have right now. You can also find out the contact information for each contractor that suits your needs and budget. The Internet makes researching local contractors easier.

My New Asus Netbook

I've been putting off buying a new laptop for the longest time since I'm still saving up enough money to purchase something in cash instead of relying again on my credit card. Unfortunately, that I had to do last week because my netbook died on me. I've had my computer since 2010 so the battery really needed to be replaced. The only reason why I was still able to use it was because I always had it plugged. I felt kinda sad and anxious when it wouldn't turn on because it happened at a time when there's so much work to be done. I had deadlines here and there. But it served its purpose for 5 years so I had to let it go :( .

I borrowed my nephew's laptop to be able to work while waiting for the new lappie I bought at Lazada Philippines. I didn't really need a very sophisticated laptop, just something that can do enough. My order arrived after 2 days, on a Sunday. I didn't know that Lazada delivered on Sundays so this was another feather on their cap. Anyway, my black Asus X102BA-DF040H 2GB AMD A4-1200 10.1" Touchscreen netbook is working just fine. Here are some of its specifications:

Operating System: Windows 8.1

Touchscreen

CPU (model and speed): AMD Temash Dual Core A4-1200 1.0 GHz RAM and Hard Disk Drive

2GB RAM and 500 GB HDDGraphics

Intel HD Graphics Memory and expandability options

500 GB HDDConnectivity options

Ethernet LAN, WiFi

Bluetooth Camera Resolution (MP)

HD Webcam

Additional Information:

Battery type and charge (mAh): 3-cell Li-on Battery

Optical drive (CD): SuperMulti DVD burner

Power Consumption:  220V / 60Hz

P.S.   I bought this for only Php 13,499 (inclusive of VAT) plus free shipping (such a steal!).

How to Throw the Perfect Boodle Fight

Brought to you by

From sending invites to making sure you have food and drinks enough for everyone, planning a party can be quite an arduous task, no matter how much you enjoy having people over. And although having one ‘pot luck’ style is a good hack, your guests would much rather prefer that you, as the host, took care of everything.

The ‘boodle fight’ is a great way to check at least one of your party preparations off your list—setting the tables—because a boodle fight only requires a single long table and a lot of food.

Few know that we have the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) to thank for the concept, as the boodle fight originated from the military’s practice of members of the army, regardless of rank, gathering around a long table and eating food spread over banana leaves with their bare hands.

A typical boodle fight layout. Photo from www.angsarap.net

As primal as it sounds (‘boodle’ fight is military jargon for ‘attack the food’ after all), a boodle fight need not be so messy. Just follow these tips to make your boodle fight the talk of your barkada:

1. Have a theme.

Few things are more fun than themed parties, and your boodle fight’s can be reflected in the decorations, activities and, of course, the food! Prepare a lei for each guest, and serve kalua pork for a Hawaiian luau; spice up your guests’ evening with a Mexican fiesta, complete with tacos, enchiladas and margaritas; or go organic and serve only vegetarian delicacies!

2. Come in costume.

Have your guests come as opposing characters, and prepare for a real fight! Heroes and villains, nerds and jocks, #TeamNicki and #TeamTaylor—the possibilities are endless! At the end of the night, award the guest with the best costume and prepare a consequence for that one friend who was just too lazy to dress up (oh come on, we all have one).

3. Create food stations.

Encourage guests to move around and mingle by creating food stations—meat in one area, seafood in another, and desserts at the end. You also have the option of creating several stations of the same mix of food items, so guests don’t crowd the table. Print cute labels and directional signage for your stations so your guests don’t get lost in all the food!

4. Have an accessible wash area.

Since you’ll be eating with your hands (as much as possible), your guests will appreciate a wash area complete with hand soap, lotion, and the works. Surprise them with a masseuse giving free hand massages to make it more special!

5. Have food delivered.

Save time and have food delivered instead! With foodpanda, you can order food online from over 1,000 restaurants of different cuisines (Like Greenwich, Andoks, Omakase, Cibo, Pepper Lunch etc) and have them conveniently delivered to your doorstep via www.foodpanda.ph or the foodpanda app.

So gather your friends, order food, and have the best boodle fight! That’s one match you won’t mind having with one another.
